HOME AND AWAY MEET PARENT VOLUNTEER FORM
The Governor Mifflin Age Group Aquatics Programs rely heavily on parent volunteers for us to have successful home events. For swimming and diving home meets, we need help with lane timers, scorers table workers, refreshment sellers, and refreshment donations. In order to ensure our parents are not overwhelmed and still have an opportunity to watch their child swim at home meets, we ensure we have ample parents to relieve others. When we travel to away meets, Governor Mifflin is responsible for supplying lane timers only.
We will be using sign-up genius to request all volunteer assistance for the 2023-24 season.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Who can join the GM swimming and diving team? Any student of the Governor Mifflin School District ages 5 - 14 as of December 1, 2022 may join the team for the current season. Also, anyone whose parent or guardian is an employee of the district may also have their child swim or dive for the team, as long as they do not live in the Muhlenberg, Schuylkill Valley, Reading, Wilson, Manheim Township, or Owen J. Roberts school districts, as these schools have programs in our league. Swimmers living in Twin Valley and Wyomissing as well as divers in Exeter are also able to join our GM team. **Please Note** Swimmers should be able to swim at least one lap of both freestyle and another stroke before joining the swimming team. Divers should be able to do a forward dive off of the diving board prior to joining the team. When do you have practice and meets? Practice schedules are listed on the website under Practice Schedules. GM Age Group Meets as well as the add on league of USA Swimming are also listed on our website to the left under their various tabs. What gear is required for practices and meets? All swimmers and divers are required to have a competition swim suit for practices and meets. Please know this does not have to be the team suit that is offered, but it is nice for the swimmers and divers to look uniformed at meets. Swimmers MUST wear a TEAM cap at meets and any cap of their choosing at practice (boys are not required to wear caps). Goggles are not required by the rules by are HIGHLY SUGGESTED by the coaches. Swim Outlet online is a great place to purchase gear needed for practice and meets. Swimmers will need a pair of long swim fins as they are used daily at practice. Please see a coach if you are unsure about which swim fins to purchase. They should also bring a water bottle daily to stay hydrated. How many practices and meets are athletes required to make? We request that swimmers 9 & older attend at least two practices per week in order to compete in competition, usually held on the weekend. Divers and 8 & under swimmers are asked to attend two practices per week. Swimming dual meets are on a Saturday and diving meets are on a Sunday. These practice requirements can only be waived with prior notice and approval of the age group or diving coach directly responsible for the athlete. Athletes are required to compete in a minimum of two meets in order to compete in the championship meets. Where can I find my child's results from swim meets this season? All results are kept by the coaches and compiled in our Team Manager database. Results will be posted on the website under Dual Meet Information. |
